A scruffy looking Bob Dylan and a young Joan Baez and friends perform one of Dylan’s classic ballads “Hard Rain”. It’s hard to believe that so much time has gone by so quickly.
Bob Dylan may look scruffy but so do the thousands of fans out front listening to this great performance. I guess things in 1976 weren’t so good either.
Except for the music. That’s great.

The following music captured on video is still worth buzzing over some twenty years after it’s release. The Traveling Wilburys (Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Jim Keltner) in their “Handle With Care” album of 1988.
Starting at a meal shared by Roy Orbison, George Harrison, and Jeff Lynne, the group got together at Bob Dylan’s home studio in Malibu, California to record a track as a B-side for the single release of Harrison’s “This Is Love”. Tom Petty’s involvement came by chance as Harrison had left his guitar at Petty’s house. The band, however, decided that the song that resulted, “Handle with Care”, was too good to be released as a “single filler” and went on to produce a full album.
It is a bit unusual that so many great performers, each having their own hetic schedules to keep, were able to get together and enjoy working together as much as The Traveling Wilburys did. The group occassionally went on to perform another 18 months or so after Roy Orbision’s untimely death from a heart attack on December 6th, 1988 but no doubt Roy’s death was hard for the group to accept and the band ceased performing together in 1990.
Here are the amazing The Traveling Wilburys.
